The Calendar Quilt

A year and a half ago, my friend Amy and I decided to make a calendar quilt. Two, actually... one for her and one for me. We each chose six months to do blocks for, and made two duplicate blocks for each month. We had two solid blue fabrics that we agreed to incorporate in every block.

I have to say that I went into this project thinking that at the end I would have a quilt with a pumpkin for October, a heart for February, etc. I did not think that I would like the end result. However, the end result ended up being almost a secret between Amy and I, as no one would look at this quilt and say "calendar". Here are the blocks:

My Creative Life

 

​I am not happy unless I am creating something.  Art is an amazing way to let my mind loose and de-stress.  I don't worry about being "good", I concentrate on enjoying the process and the continual experimentation with a variety of media.
